Andrew Mike Mike has been with The Mu Crew since February 6, 2007. He is a student at Wright State University studying Electrical Engineering and Business. He hopes to work towards promoting alternative energy and responsible environmental stewardship. Mike enjoys music, dancing, reading, road trips, biking, swimming, volleyball, and soccer. What Mike loves about The Mu Crew is... "the mix of people there and the reverence we have for each other. Each of us has a unique story to tell, and we are all here to support and learn from each other. I am often frustrated with how society naively clumps together the gay community, often with inaccurate and negative portrayals. Therefore, it is nice, not only meeting gay men who are respectable members of society, but also being part of the solution in dispelling these misperceptions. It feels great to be able to contribute to a more positive impression of the gay community." Chris Chris joined The Mu Crew in January of 2005. Sadly, Chris recently moved away from the Dayton area for a new job and says he does "miss my boys dearly." Chris travels a great deal and enjoys seeing the world as much as possible. Chris hopes to one day be back in the gem city with The Crew. Chris thinks The Mu Crew gives guys an opportunity they will not find anyplace else. "Its not just a group its a community that cares for each other and helps each other grow. I always enjoyed all the trips and events with the group. Dudes N Dresses (a drag fundraiser) was the best...love my boys!" Gregory

Craig Craig has been with The Mu Crew since February of 2006. Craig is a junior at Wright State University majoring in Finance. He also plays on the WSU Men's Volleyball Team. Craig loves hanging out with friends, eating, and just having a good time. Craig shares, "The Mu Crew has done so much for me and I don't know what I would do without them. They are a great group of friends and allies, and anyone would be lucky to have them in their lives." Shawn Shawn was actively involved with the Mu Crew throughout 2006. Shawn is an auditor for a large company here in Dayton, and plans to eventually start his own CPA practice in the coming years. Shawn's goal is to help individuals and small business owners manage and plan their finances. He would really like to be able to have a focus on the GLBT community as part of his practice in order to help GLBT individuals in the financial needs specific to them that are often not understood or overlooked by many accountants and attorneys. Shawn tells us "What I love about the Mu Crew is what it does for those who are young and new to the area. Many young GLBT individuals come to the Dayton when they are 18-19 years old to attend one of the many universities in the area. These young adults are away from their hometowns and parents for the first time and feel free to explore and discover who they are, some in very risky ways. The Mu Crew gives these folks, many just starting to come out to themselves let alone to the rest of the world, a place to meet other GLBT individuals in a laid back, safe, drug and alcohol free environment while learning about the risks, and issues that face them. Plus, not only are they meeting people their age, but also some of those who have been around the block a few times so that they may learn from their life experiences as well. It also provides everyone great ways to get involved in the local community (volunteer projects, fundraising, etc), informs everyone of the local resources available, as well as providing a great network of supportive friends." Josh Josh has been a member of the Mu Crew since July 20, 2005. Josh is a graduate of Valparaiso University and returned to his hometown, Dayton, after his studies. He hopes to make a positive impact on the community. Josh is an amateur radio operator and storm spotter. In his spare time, Josh enjoys reading, music, and watching sports. As a former member of the Dayton Priority Board system, Josh acknowledges that a commitment to community service is a strong indicator of the strength of that community. Josh says, “I am proud to be a member of The Mu Crew. Through community service projects, The Mu Crew is showing its determination to build and strengthen the community, that is, the LGBT community and the Dayton-area community as a whole. I am confident in the success of the Mu Crew because this organization has proven time and time again that it is able to step up to a challenge, no matter how great or small, and produce quality results. In addition to the commitment to service, The Mu Crew members learn valuable information through educational programs. These programs serve the members as a resource for a range of topics including safer sex, sexually transmitted infections, managing credit card debt, sexual assault, and skin care.” Alex Alex has been with The Mu Crew since April 15, 2007. Alex's passions are martial arts, Buddhism, social justice, and youth development. He works at Bright Horizons, a child care center. In the past Alex has worked with Boys and Girls Clubs and Unified Health Solutions. He enjoys reading and spending time with friends. Alex shares, "What I love about The Mu Crew is the sense of being called to be something more. From the first day I came to a meeting, I felt like I was needed. The Mu Crew members hold each other accountable and support each other. I feel like everyone is given the same opportunity to be involved and help. Everyone has strengths that are called upon by the group. My most memorable experience I've had from being involved in The Mu Crew is going to the first Retreat. I've never had an experience where I felt so connected to other people and supported. I really learned then that everyone deals with very similar emotional issues. I've dealt with loneliness for years, and at The Retreat I learned in a very intuitive way that I'm not alone in that. Knowing that I'm not "broken" in some way because I deal with loneliness was very empowering. I'm now living in North Carolina and I'm coming back for the second Retreat!" Charles
Ben has been with The Mu Crew since October 2004. Ben has Bachelors degrees in Music and Mathematics Education. He currently teaches secondary and post-secondary Mathematics in the Dayton area. Ben enjoys music, movies, and hanging out with friends from The Mu Crew. Ben is certainly an all around nice guy and someone who will listen to others. Ben loves being active with The Mu Crew. He attends almost all of the meetings and events. Ben stated, "My favorite events have been the two retreats and ice skating in Lexington, KY." Ben believes the retreats have opened his mind to the differences of each person and have been very educational about himself. Ben hopes to see The Mu Crew continue to thrive and provide an outlet for anyone that is gay/bi/or questioning. Cole
